Polystyrene – PS
Polystyrene or PS is a hard, amorphous, transparent thermoplastic resin that is polymerized from styrene (vinyl benzene). This polymerization takes place by heating a suspension in water and using peroxides to initiate the reaction.
PS is a versatile synthetic addition polymer, so it can be used in 3 ways:
- As common (crystal) polystyrene
- As high impact polystyrene
- Expanded
